Right, so if you¡¯re reading this, it means you¡¯ve clicked on a blog post all about lanyards. Let¡¯s be honest here, you¡¯ve probably done it foe one of two reasons. Number one, you¡¯re genuinely interested in promotional lanyards. Or, number two, you¡¯re probably thinking ¡®this is a rather strange blog post, and what¡¯s so special about lanyards?¡¯ Well, at the risk of not sounding too much of a geek, it turns out that lanyards are a pretty cool and useful corporate accessory.
Nowadays, lanyards are everywhere. You can¡¯t go to a conference, school or work without hanging out (get it?!) with one.
So what are they exactly? Lanyards are cords passed around the neck that carry items such as keys, ID cards and whistles. But¡ they have a rather colourful, military past.
Here¡¯s a fun fact for you, the earliest references to lanyards or lanière date back to 15th century France. Lanyards were originally used by the military for a number of different reasons. For example, they were used to fire an artillery or arm the fuse mechanism on air-dropped bombs. Lanyards also connected a pistol, sword or whistle to a uniform whilst denoting the wearer¡¯s regiment. Not just a lowly lanyard anymore, eh?
Although lanyards may not be used in war anymore, they are still used for identification purposes and holding objects. They enable you to keep your important objects (such as keys and ID) close and secure whilst you get on with your day.
Therefore, lanyards make ideal and inexpensive corporate accessories. They can reflect your brand as you can choose to display your logo on the cord or pull reel. This keeps your brand at eye-level and at the forefront of your consumers¡¯ minds.
